Lot #3513. 1852 United States Assay Office of Gold $50 Gold. K-14. Rarity-5+. 900 THOUS. EF-40 (PCGS).

Very Scarce 1852 U.S. Assay Office $50 Gold

900 THOUS K-14 Type

Description: This piece presents quite well for a lightly circulated Fifty-Dollar gold piece from Gold Rush California. True, both sides are moderately-to-heavily abraded, and a few minor rim bruises are noted. We stress, however, that these features are commensurate with the type, especially a circulated example. Light glossiness to the obverse is also noted, although that side of the coin exhibits relatively pleasing olive-orange patina. The reverse is more original in appearance with olive-khaki color. Well defined for the grade, and sure to have no difficulty finding its way into an advanced collection.

PCGS# 10019.
