Bidding by mail permits you to participate in an auction as though you were attending it in person. The procedure is really quite simple. You tell us what you want, and the maximum amount you are willing to pay. We then, as your personal agent, try to buy the items
listed for you at the lowest possible price.
The mail bid form has two sides for you to fill in. The front side provides all the information we will need to register you as a bidder, execute your bids for you and deliver your lots to you if you are a successful bidder. Please answer all the questions
that may apply to you. If you have any special mailing instructions or and/or other instructions, please note them in the “special instructions” area of your bidsheet.
DON’T FORGET TO SIGN YOUR BIDSHEET.
On the back side are pairs of columns where you may list your bids. After carefully
reading the lot description, write down the lot number and the maximum amount you are willing to pay for that lot. Don’t forget that a 15% buyer’s fee will be added to your actual purchase price if you are the lucky bidder. Continue to list lot numbers and bids for each ofthe lots you are interested in buying.
When we receive your bidsheet, we will record your bids at the amount you have authorized us to bid for you, and we will, in addition, note any lots where an increase is authorized if absolutely needed to win the lot. For example, if the sample bidsheet shown at the right were yours, we would enter your bid on lot #8 as $350. If yours was the highest bid received, you would be the purchaser at $350. (plus 15%), and
applicable taxes and shipping charges. If the second highest bid received on the lot was substantially less, your bid would be reduced to a “normal” increment above the second-highest bid, just as it would be if you were present at the sale yourself to execute your own bids. If you have authorized a percentage increase on the front side of your bidsheet and the bidding by others has exceeded your basic bid, we will then, as your personal agent, increase your bid to the minimum amount necessary to obtain the lot for you. The
authorized increase will never be used except when your basic bid is exceeded.
Before you mail your bidsheet, do be sure to check it over to make certain you have bid on the correct lot(s) and that your bids are the ones you are both willing and able to pay for. Enjoy the catalog, place bids on everything you would like to buy. If time is running out and you feel your bidsheet may arrive too late to be included, you may call our office between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, giving us the lot numbers and amount you will pay for each lot, over the telephone. Please make sure you immediately send in your bidsheet for confirmation. Also, you may FAX your bidsheet to us. As your
personal agents we wish you every success.
